sick day yeah...

[from 9-19-16]

So this last week is great, yah.  Day five of Satan's Rash [?], yeah, day FiVE.  I am going insane and so are the other three elders. We have been stuck in the house for these past days, and so we haven't done much in our area, so life is boring.  The other part of the week, my companion and I got the opportunity to go to a brother's farm. His name is Bro. Taylor, and we went to his farm and did service for him by planting pumpkin for him. It was awesome, but sadly, I didn’t have my camera on me.
The happy thought is that I made cake!!
So life is good and I have a picture of a goat!!! And Elder Palmer and me and cake!  (Cake!!!! )

Goats, goats everywhere

[from 9-12-16]

Yo everyone, What’s up?  So, yeah, goats.  I'll have a picture some time, but if you go to Jamaica and don't see a goat you're not in Jamaica. ...

So this week we had a trade-off with the zone leaders, and it so happens that one of them was my good friend Elder Rowley whom I grew up with in Santaquin.  I was so blessed to be with him as my companion for the day. We gave someone a blessing and got a commitment to baptism and also got to be in the truck!  So, yeah, clarification for everyone on vehicles:  zone leaders, AP's office elders and most off island elders are in trucks, so it’s pretty awesome.

Life is good, y'all, and every time you see a goat, say something that you are grateful for.

Much love,

Elder N. Smith

p.s. Sorry probably no pictures this week, but next week!

Month Numero 1

So, hi everybody! Life in May Pen is great, and thanks for all the emails from everyone.  I love hearing what life is like for all of you. Sorry that I haven't been able to respond to everyone. I hope y'all understand ;)

So, yeah, I hit my one-month mark and I wouldn't have noticed if it wasn't for an investigator that Elder Ludlow and I have named Russel. He was super special because he is the first person that I extended the invitation to be BAPTIZED.  The best part is HE ACCEPTED, so he is on date for the beginning of October. Super awesome!!!!!!!

So life out here is exciting and fun. We meet plenty of Jamaicans that speak such thick Patois [pronounced patwah] that even Elder Ludlow has a hard time sometimes, and he has been out for a year now. I'm starting to understand it more now, but it is definitely a struggle many-a-times. I hope you are all well.

Lots of love,

Elder Nate Smith

Welcome to Jamaica!!!!!!!

[from August 29]

Well e’ry one, I made it! Jamaica! The people here are great. Life is good, and oh, did I mention the people?  They are super friendly and help me out with learning the language, which if you didn't know is not really English, so it makes for an experience.

It has rained hard often the last few days.  One funny thing about the people here is that most of them hate rain, but it rains all the time, so ….

Time is short. Smile and sunshine everyone. Enjoy the little things in life, and if you can, read Moroni 7 and really take it question by question.

Enjoy!

Love y'all,

Elder N Smith
